Pick up the pace!

Get out in some nature and move it! A brisk walk can actually give you energy while expending a bit of it, and it’s also a great way to reduce stress. And we all know how exhausting stress can be.

When you take a walk, don’t just go for a couple minutes. Make it count and give yourself at least 10. Watch your posture and make sure to involve your arms to take the heart rate up another notch. Once your jaunty jaunt is done, you’re going to feel better equipped to face the next task on your plate.

Get in some stretching

Do you regularly practice yoga? If so, great! If not, that’s fine, too. Regardless of whether you’re down with downward dog, everyone can benefit from stretching it out. 

Make sure you give yourself a nice long stretch, but don’t push your muscles. The point is to twist until you feel the tightness (that means it’s working), but not to push past that tightness. Stretching is another way to increase your heart rate a little and get some circulation, creating more energy!

How to increase energy levels tip three: hop around!

Try a quick exercise known as “the invisible jump rope.” Essentially this is jumping rope, even if you don’t have one. You can mimic the action by moving your hands like you’re swinging a rope, and hop over that imaginary string. 

I mean, you could also just hop around like a damn bunny if you prefer. The ensuing laughter would probably help reduce tension, and the embarrassment might wake you up.

Dance it out!

You don’t need to go to a club or even listen to some sick beats to get down. Dance to your own tune, even if your neighbors look at you like you’re crazy. Getting your groove on—even for a couple of minutes—is a great way to quickly increase your heart rate and get your mind back in the game.

Rocky your way through it

By that we mean boxing. But you can reenact the stair scene, too—that would help get your heart rate going. You don’t need an opponent, gloves, or even one of those little balls they smack around that comes right back at your face. 

Roll up your sleeves and duke it out with an invisible opponent. We won’t tell anyone you’re imagining your least favorite co-worker.

Decompress

This can be in the form of meditation, journaling, or even talking to another person. The point here isn’t to get your heart rate going, but to dump the stress that’s weighing you down so you can unburden your mind to face the rest of the day.

Crank it up

How to increase your energy levels? Turn on the jams, man! Don’t listen to that depressing ‘90s playlist. Get something thumping pumping through those speakers. This could be techno, death metal, or even some Hanson. 

Don’t fight it. We know a little “MMMBop” will get your mind raring to go!

Get in your 8 cups

No, not coffee. Getting re-hydrated with enough agua can help wake up your system up almost as well as moving around. Our bodies need water. Hell, we’re mostly made of it! Consider if your fatigue is a sign that you’re dehydrated. 

And bottoms up!
